The main objective of the Active Ageing Index (AAI) statistics is to obtain the necessary information for the construction of the Index, and also complementary information on the living conditions of people aged 55 and over in various aspects:

- Participation in society and social life.

- Independent, healthy and safe ways of living.

- Existence of a facilitating environment for aging.

The Active Ageing Index is the result of a research project developed jointly by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). This index should provide sufficient information to those in charge of designing and formulating public policies on the exploitation and use of the potential that corresponds to older people to contribute to the economy and society. In the following link Active Ageing Index | UNECE will find additional information.
